The Business Need/Challenge
When Education Funding Agency (EFA) merged with Partnerships for Schools (PFS), they needed a solution to manage the department’s capital payment transactions. Due to increasing staff numbers, it was vital that EFA had scalable software that could cope with such growth within the company. In a nutshell, the new business software needed to act as a robust finance system that could maintain day-to-day transactions.
EFA recognised that they needed business management software that could easily integrate the data from both departments. In order to resolve this issue they engaged with Microsoft Dynamics NAV partner, Total Enterprise Solutions (TES) who specialise in delivering solutions within the education sector. Firstly TES discussed their options with EFA and suggested a solution that could act as a hard client finance system for budget holders to maintain their budget whilst managing the day-to-day transactions, nominal, sales, purchase & cash ledger.
The project was deployed using Microsoft Dynamics NAV and .NET web service technology to integrate external-facing users. NAV allows external-facing users to view and manage personal documents remotely. These documents then proceed through an advanced workflow-driven approval process and adhere to procurement-approach form questionnaires that are defined by the users. This means that NAV is extended to a large user community through standardised Microsoft technology, bringing it in line with the self-service objectives set out by the government.
